Yeast Infection Cures - Do You Want to Cure Your Yeast Infection Problem?
Yeast infection cures can help you if you are a woman with a yeast infection or, worst still, who gets recurrent yeast infections that just won't stay away. But there are many different treatments so where do you start? In this article, I'll give you a quick run through of the various cures that you can start to use today.
Drugs
Pharmaceutical drugs for treating yeast infections are nearly all of the "anti-fungal" variety from the "azole" family of drugs. They help to wipe out the overgrowth of yeast in the vagina that causes the flare up of the infection in the first place.
The most common form is a cream. In days gone by you could only obtain this from your doctor but these days you can buy it over the counter from almost any pharmacy. You must apply the cream to the inside of the vagina for several days until the infection clears up.
Some women prefer to use a suppository. This is a small, waxy piece that you place into the vagina. As it slowly melts, the active ingredient is released and then absorbed by your body.
Although azole drugs are available in an oral form as capsules, most women do not take them in this form. This is because capsules act on the body as a whole which is unnecessary for clearing up a vaginal yeast infection.
Natural Cures
Although most women only get one or two yeast infections in a lifetime and drugs normally clear it up, some women have recurrent infections and drugs do not seem to be the answer. Drugs get rid of the initial infection but don't stop it from coming back. Also, some women do not want to use any drugs at all and would rather use a natural remedy.
Many women swear by apple cider vinegar. The dosage varies. One option is to put a few teaspoons and mix it with warm water and douche yourself with it. Other women put a cup or two into their bath water and soak in it. Beware that you will have a burning sensation but many women say that the short amount of discomfort is worth the hassle. Also, it may dry out your vagina and give it a temporary unpleasant smell.
Yogurt is another natural cure that many women use. Normally, healthy bacteria in the vagina prevent yeast from growing out of control and causing an infection. Many women lack this bacteria, quite often due to use of antibiotics. By drinking "live" or "active" or "probiotic" yogurts, the healthy bacteria can be replaced and keep away future yeast infections.
